Southampton Concert Orchestra's Upcoming Concerts

Our 2023 season begins in March, with a hugely popular programme of classical music, performed at the fantastic Romsey Abbey. In summer we look forward to you joining us at the Romsey Festival Gala Picnic. We finish off the season at Turner Sims Concert Hall, with a programme including Bartok, Elgar and Debussy.

In 2024 we will celebrate our 60th year. We will be hosting our 60th Anniversary Concert in the summer with a performance of Mahler 7 at Romsey Abbey. We will finish the year with a performance of Petrushka and Dvorak Cello Concerto at Turner Sims.

Lutoslawski - Symphonic Variations
Scriabin - Poem of Ecstasy
Shostakovich - Symphony no. 7 "Leningrad"

"This was a particularly challenging programme and the whole orchestra worked together to give a performance I was very proud of.

The Scriabin and Lutoslawski were unfamiliar to most of us, but our weeks of rehearsal paid off, especially in the Scriabin, with the Abbey providing the perfect venue for this huge work.

Shostakovich is one of my favourite composers with this Symphony being one of his best. I wont forget the emotion or exhilaration felt after the final note for a long time!"
